Professional Credentials

Ms. Muetzel spent more than a decade within the Federal Reserve System, serving in bank supervision roles in both New York and San Francisco. In these roles, she evaluated corporate governance, internal control systems, and risk management practices across some of the world’s largest financial institutions.

Her responsibilities included assessing the effectiveness of governance structures and operational controls, working to mitigate systemic risk, and overseeing supervisory teams responsible for monitoring complex financial institutions. During the final years of her tenure, she managed a team of senior examiners overseeing a multi-trillion-dollar retail broker-dealer with multiple bank charters. She also participated in national supervisory committees responsible for oversight of large and foreign banking organizations.

In these positions, she regularly delivered supervisory findings and recommendations directly to boards of directors and executive leadership teams, providing detailed feedback on governance, compliance, and operational risk.

Following her work in bank supervision, Ms. Muetzel transitioned into leadership roles within financial institutions and fintech companies, where she built and implemented risk management and governance frameworks in practice. She has served as a fractional Chief Risk Officer for financial institutions pursuing innovative digital strategies and has designed enterprise risk management programs for organizations operating in rapidly evolving regulatory environments.

She also served as President of a division at Blue Ridge Bank during a period when the institution was subject to a regulatory enforcement action. In that role, she was responsible for leading remediation efforts and strengthening internal governance, risk management, and operational oversight.

Throughout her career, Ms. Muetzel has worked extensively with treasury operations and payment systems, including the internal control environments surrounding wire transfers and other high-risk financial transactions. She has also developed compliance and operational control frameworks for fintech companies operating in areas such as digital wallets, tokens, and cryptocurrency platforms.
